- Title and cast: the film and the people featured or signing.
- Height and width: in centimetres; a US one sheet is about 69 x 104 cm.
- Condition: often on the poster scale, from A- (fine, tiny imperfections) through B+ (small imperfections) to B (obvious imperfections).
- Origin: the country the poster was printed for.
What to check before buying
Original cinema posters were usually folded before being sent to cinemas, so fold lines are normal on older posters; rolled examples become common from the 1990s. For signed items, check which certificate of authenticity is included and who issued it. A reprint or later re-release poster is not the same as an original release poster, so read the description carefully. Large statues are heavy and bulky, so check the dimensions against your space.

What size is a US one sheet movie poster?
A standard US one sheet is 27 x 41 inches, about 69 x 104 cm, for posters printed before the mid-1980s. Later one sheets are usually 27 x 40 inches. For comparison, Italian locandine are narrower and tall, around 33 x 70 cm, and Japanese B2 posters are about 51 x 73 cm.
Why are old movie posters folded?
Until the late 1980s, most cinema posters were folded by the studio or distributor before being sent to cinemas. Fold lines on an original from that period are expected and are not counted as damage. Posters that were never folded are scarcer for older films, while later posters were generally sent out rolled.
What should a signed photo come with?
Look for a certificate of authenticity from a recognised authentication company, ideally with a matching serial number or hologram on the item, and check whether the certificate can be verified online. A clear signature on a photo showing the signer's best-known role is usually the most sought after.
