Most pieces date from the 1970s to the 1990s, with a good share from after 2000. You will find speaker pairs, integrated and power amplifiers, receivers, turntables, cassette and minidisc decks, reel-to-reel recorders from Revox and Uher, CD players, complete hi-fi sets and a few gramophones.

Functional condition: most items are listed as tested and working/playable; a few as not tested.
Physical condition: from mint to good, describing cosmetic wear.

What to check before buying

Check the mains voltage: most European equipment runs on 220-240 V, while some Japanese and American domestic models need 100 or 120 V. Vintage amplifiers can have scratchy volume controls, which cleaning usually cures. Foam speaker surrounds perish with age and may need replacing. Turntables need a working cartridge and stylus, and belt-drive decks may need a new belt. Some Bang & Olufsen generations use their own connectors, so check compatibility with your other equipment.

It means the listing reports that the unit powered on and its main functions, such as sound from both channels, tape transport or record playback, worked when checked. Do vintage speakers need servicing?

Often. Foam surrounds on many woofers from the 1970s to the 1990s break down with age and are routinely replaced. Rubber and cloth surrounds last longer. Crossover capacitors can also drift over decades. Look closely at any photos of the drivers with the grilles removed to judge their state.
